Business Technology Partners Successfully Completes Design-Build Project for NY State Public Employees Federation

 

New York, NY, July 18th, 2017 – Business Technology Partners (BTP), a premier IT consulting company and managed services firm in New York, announces that in 2017 it successfully completed a design-build project of an IT infrastructure upgrade for the NY State Public Employees Federation (PEF) New York City office located at 100 William Street.

BTP had initially handled all aspects of infrastructure design for a low voltage technology infrastructure project for PEF. The scope of work included IT cabling, audio-visual system upgrade, installation of an enterprise wireless network, and implementation of a physical security program. BTP collaborated with Environetics, an architectural firm specialized in sustainable practices. 

 

Taking the relationship a step further, PEF retained BTP to execute a build out of the plans they had initially designed. BTP directly hired all the subcontracted construction labor to complete the physical install and oversaw the construction process to completion.

 

While many IT design firms are hired to create the blueprint for the project and call it a day, in a design-build project the IT design firm executes the entire project from start to finish. By creating a single point of contact for the client, such a format provides better centralized coordination between all parties involved, from architects to construction firms as well as ancillary vendors such as audiovisual firms. Having the IT design firm coordinate all the logistics and timing of all subcontractors’ work increases the efficiency of all operations, shortens project cycle time, and prevents trades from conflicting with each other in the same office area.

 

With the new Cisco Meraki wireless guest desk network in place, PEF employees will have the freedom to work from any location in the office and can even perform presentations directly from their laptops if needed. The new guest network will allow PEF to accommodate visitors better in their two large multipurpose training rooms which have been outfitted with both wireless and audiovisual systems.
